What was the last thing that touched your heart?

Posted on Aug 26th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 26, 2009:

Rollie Stanich.  Just met him this weekend in Teasdale, UT, after a talk on Integral Christianity...He spoke about many things dear to my heart: living love, moment to moment, every moment; the tremendous challenge of trying to live this ideal in the human rhelm; the fact that God by nature arises in stillness; and he taught centering prayer to our meditation group, which was totally new to me as a spiritual practice. Thank you, my friend. Good to know you are walking the Earth.

What does it feel like to breathe?

Posted on Jul 6th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 06, 2009:

In taking a few breaths, I notice the soundscape flowing around me. The mumur of a friend's voice on her cell phone, the clicking of the hospital bed re-filling the air matress underneath her, the ding-dong, ding-dong of a nurse's call button, the soft rasp of my own inhale, the soft rasp of breath leaving the body, the faint shadow of sound around my heart beating in  my chest. A few deep breaths reminds me what it feels like to be centered in this body with consciousness experiencing LIFE! and life. and Life. just this breath, breathing human being.

Where, or what, would you like to finally surrender?

Posted on May 18th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 18, 2009:

I would like to surrender my selfishness, my broken ego, my misguided physical drives to overeat and oversleep, my sense of worthlessness, my disconnect from God. I am holy and this is life, breathing through form! There are so many possibilites for gorgeousness and service and love. I surrender to embodiment. I relax into care for this form/being. I surrender all that blocks me from the unconditional love always radiating within. I surrender the habits that block me from radiating this love fully into the whole world, undepleted. Undiminished. Unblemished. perfect.

I surrender to this breath
in this moment
again
and again
and
again
as long as I live.

If this week were a scavenger hunt, what would it be for?

Posted on May 5th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 05, 2009:

This particular week as a scavenger hunt...I work for a 70 year old couple that need a little extra help. I love this job. This week, I seem to be seeking ways to engage the world through my body and senses. To re-connect. Through really tasting the food I eat. Seeing the sights, smelling the smells, running and breathing and stretching. Resonating with a guitar in my arms. Clues are coming to me from my meditation group, my teachers, my family and friends. My last horse was put down last Friday...this life is so fleeting. This week is a reminder that it's so precious. LIVE!!!

Today

Posted on Jan 8th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
Today is the first day of the rest of my life. This happens every day. Every breath. Every moment. This am, it came to me to write it down. To remind myself I have the choice to start anew, in a new direction, or to reinforce new beginnings with my choices. Even something as simple as straightening my posture. Taking a deep breath to open my heart and lungs. A gentle stretch to circulate the blood in my muscles. A smile. A loving thought. A handwritten note. A phone call. A love letter.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I intend to use it well!
Blessings and love, y'all!

What's the farthest you've ever been on your own steam?

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 26, 2008:

In 9 days, I walked the High Sierra Crest Trail, 75 miles across CA's Sierra Nevada Mountains from Cresent Meadow (6,700' elev) in the west to the Mt. Whitney Portal in the East. I soaked in the small Kern River Hot Springs and summited Mt. Whitney (the highest mountain in the continental US--14,505' elev) on this trip. Awesome.

I have also done two 200+ mile bike trips in Southern Utah. One from St. George to Loa in March of 2005, and one from Loa to Loa in a loop around scenic Hwy 12 in August of 2006. Both trips took 6 days. Gorgeous.

I did all of these journeys solo.

What would you like to celebrate?

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 06, 2009:

My true friendships, community connections, the priviledges I enjoy as an intelligent, ablebodied American citizen, the lessons I have learned about the importance of kindness and gentleness, the place for powerful response. I would like to celebrate taking care of myself (body, mind, spirit, shadow) and the integral community that has supported my growth over the last three years. Thank you everyone!

What was the biggest adventure of your past year?

Posted on Jan 7th, 2009 by Mare : Seeking Mare
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 31, 2008:

I started telling people I love them more. From the heart. In emails. In letters. In person. One the phone...with true blessing and pure intent. It's meant a lot to open my heart in this way.
